DRIVEN BY NUMBERS
William de Ferrers School’s 2015 GCSE certificate presentation included the “Khan Thornton Award for the Most Improved Maths Student”, sponsored by local accountancy firm Khan Thornton.
We are obviously ‘driven by numbers’,” said principal Dino Khan during the award ceremony. “However, this award is not just about maths: it’s about rewarding the individual’s endeavours, perseverance and passion to achieve one’s goals. It’s about success through real effort and extremely hard work.”
Khan Thornton are keen to support the local community, and have a number of initiatives in place to promote further education for young people. “We intend to continue working closely with both pupils and staff at William de Ferrers, inspired by that spirit,” said Dino, whose business also belongs to an International Guild of Engineers, which has created, developed and now runs a national Apprenticeship Programme.
Year 11 student Ben Windford, the winner, was presented with a named, engraved plaque, a certificate and a £100 cheque.
